Bureau of Land Management property within the Archie Creek Fire perimeter, other than designated recreation sites along Highway 138, will remain closed for public health and safety through this year, or until hazards associated with the wildfire have been mitigated.

Cheyne Rossbach of the BLM said this includes recreation areas in the Rock Creek drainage, the North Umpqua Trail, Swiftwater Trailhead, Emerald Waters and the Susan Creek Falls Trailhead.

Rossbach said the Susan Creek Campground opened on April 16th. Eagleview Group Campground is set to open on May 7th. Cavitt Creek Campground and Scaredman Campground are scheduled to open beginning May 21st.

Swiftwater Field Manager Mike Korn said the BLM is committed to supporting local communities and economies impacted by the Archie Creek Fire. He said staff is working to restore and open up recreation areas in the North Umpqua River corridor at the earliest opportunity. He said until safety concerns and hazard trees have been addressed, the public is asked to follow the closure notice and stay out of the closed recreation areas.

Campsites on the Roseburg District are available by reservation only at www.recreation.gov.
