DISTRACTED DRIVING ENFORCEMENT RESULTS IN 41 TRAFFIC STOPS

A recent distracted driving enforcement campaign by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office resulted in 41 traffic stops, 4 arrests, and a number of citations and warnings.

Sergeant Brad O’Dell said 20 hours were dedicated to the campaign earlier this month. They were funded by grant dollars.

O’Dell said 9 warnings each were given for districted driving and for equipment violations. 5 citations were given for driving while suspended. There were 4 miscellaneous citations handed out. 32 miscellaneous traffic warnings were issued. Other citations and warnings were given out as well.

O’Dell said the focus of the campaign was education and bringing awareness to the dangers of distracted driving.
