RHS FOUNDATION NAMES FUTURE FIRST CITIZENS

March 1, 2021 3:35 a.m.

The Roseburg High School Foundation has announced the finalists for the 2021 Future First Citizen Award.

Foundation President Brian Prawitz said five RHS seniors will share $26,000 in scholarship money. The winner will earn $10,000 toward tuition at the college of their choice. The four remaining finalists will each receive $4,000 scholarships towards their college choice.

Prawitz said the award recognizes five top seniors as future leaders, volunteers, supporters and role models who will make a difference in their community.

The finalists are Camille Dela Cruz, Jane Harvey, Lauren Sandfort, Rachel Bober, and Stephanie Way.

Each will be interviewed by a community panel made up of the Roseburg High Foundation, a past winner of the award, and local business leaders who have donated to the scholarship fund.

The winner will be announced at the virtual Roseburg High School Foundation Scholarship Night, Tuesday night April 13th on the RHS Foundation Facebook page.

Prawitz said the Future First Citizen recognition and scholarship award was initiated for RHS seniors approximately 20 years ago. It was originally designed and financially supported by a combination of local businesses and individuals, many of whom are supporting the return of the award with a three-year commitment. Prawitz said the Roseburg High School Foundation Board assumed oversight of the recognition two years ago and in 2020, announced the return of the scholarship award after a one-year hiatus.
