Open enrollment for health insurance will end on Tuesday December 15th.
A release from the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services said Oregonians who do not receive health insurance through work, Medicare, or the Oregon Health Plan will need to sign up for health insurance at: https://www.healthcare.gov/ if they want to have coverage in 2021. Consumers can look at plans and find out how much of a subsidy they are eligible for by going to that website.
The release said despite the tumultuous nature of this year, Oregonians have enrolled in health insurance at the same levels as this same point last year.
Individuals making just over $51,000 or less per year, and families of four making just under $105,000 may get help paying for coverage. The release said this year, more than seven in ten Oregonians who chose plans through the website got financial help for monthly premiums and out of pocket costs. Those savings lowered the average premium to just $145 per month.
The release said the Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace, a part of state government, helps people get health insurance when they do not have job-based coverage and do not quality for the Oregon Health Plan or another program.
