COVID-19 CLAIMS 4 MORE LIVES, STATE DEATH TOLL AT 559 AS OF WEDNESDAY

COVID-19 has claimed 4 more lives, raising the state death toll to 559, as of Wednesday.

An update from the Oregon Health Authority reported 220 new and confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the state death toll to 33,509. The new cases include:

*35 each in Marion and Washington counties

*29 in Lane County

*20 in Multnomah County

*19 in Jackson County

*17 in Clackamas County

*14 in Deschutes County

*8 each in Malheur and Wallowa counties

*7 in Linn County

*6 in Wallowa County

*5 in Yamhill County

*4 each in Benton, Douglas and Morrow counties

*3 each in Baker and Clatsop counties

*2 each in Columbia, and Coos counties

*1 each in Josephine, Lake and Wallowa counties

The new deaths ranged in age from 61 to 86. 1 each lived in Clackamas, Wasco, Marion and Jackson counties.

The OHA is now reporting all COVID-19 cases in schools that offer any form of in-person instruction. For reporting purposes, schools that have no students being served onsite will be treated as workplace outbreaks, which are also noted in the weekly report. For Douglas County, a student at East Primary School in Sutherlin has tested positive recently, which was already reported by that school district.

The OHA weekly report shows that for the week of September 21st to 27th, 1,999 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded. That is up 32 percent from the prior week’s tally. The number of Oregonians newly tested rose 29 percent to 24,243. The percentage of tests that were positive remained unchanged from last week’s report at 6.2 percent. 18 Oregonians were reported to have died from COVID-19, which is also unchanged. 143 Oregonians are hospitalized for COVID-19, up from 116 the previous week.
