DFPA MOVES FIRE DANGER TO HIGH

September 18, 2020 9:15 a.m.

The Douglas Forest Protective Association has moved to a fire danger rating of “High”, and Industrial Fire Precaution Level 3, on all private, county, state, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Indian Affairs managed lands within DFPA’s 1.6 million, acre district, effective immediately.

Fire Prevention Officer Kyle Reed said the change in restrictions is due to cooler temperatures and recent rainfall.

During high fire danger, these activities are prohibited between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.:

*The cutting, trimming or mowing of dried or cured grass. This restriction does not apply to the mowing of green lawns or for the commercial culture and harvest of agricultural crops.

*The cutting, grinding or welding of metal, and the use of power saws for non-industrial purposes.

*Any non-industrial improvement or development taking place on private property that utilizes power driven machinery not specifically mentioned in the Public Use Restrictions.

IFPL3 requires logging, road building and other industrial operations that utilize power driven machinery in forests and wildland areas to shut down most equipment between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
