YMCA OPENING MONDAY

May 28, 2020 3:25 a.m.
The YMCA of Douglas County is reopening its doors next Monday, June 1st to its members, under the Phase 1 guidelines set in place by Governor Kate Brown.
The facility has been closed since mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A release said the health and safety of staff, volunteers and members continues to be the top priority for the YMCA. It said staff will continue to monitor the ever-evolving situation and guidelines to help keep people informed during this time.
The release said there will be a safety check when entering the facility. While doing this, members need to sign a one-time release waiver and will have to answer a few safety- screening questions each time they enter the YMCA.
No guest passes, or day passes will be permitted for now. Childcare, child watch, pools, spas, the steam room, sauna, racquetball, or youth sports will not be offered during Phase 1. Children ages 8-12 must always be accompanied by a parent and limited activities will be available as well.
The release said staff will practice social distancing and conduct regular and thorough cleaning of all equipment, surfaces and areas throughout the building each day. Overnight cleaning of the facility will take place as well.
At this time, the open areas will be the cardio/weight room, studios and spin room. Group exercise classes will resume but with limited spots available along with a modified schedule, plus format and location changes. Activities allowed include pickleball and basketball with strict rules.
Members are also asked to wipe down equipment before and after each use and to wash their hands and sanitize.
No lockers, showers or towel service will be available in Phase 1. Members should also bring their own water bottle for the refill station.
