Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal helicopter crash which took place Thursday afternoon.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell said just before 2:15 p.m. 911 dispatchers received reports of a small aircraft which had gone down near the 2300 block of Glengary Loop Road, south of Roseburg. O’Dell said deputies along with the Winston Police Department, and Douglas County Fire District No.2 responded and located a downed burning helicopter on private property. It was determined that at least one individual died in the crash.
The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office and the National Transportation Safety Board are working with DCSO.
O’Dell said no further details are available at this time.
