Casey’s Restaurant in Roseburg has been fined nearly $14,000 by the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration, for reopening early.
Leah Andrews, Director of Public Information and Communications for the Department of Consumer and Business Services told News Radio 1240 KQEN the violations were issued against Mounts Enterprises, doing business as Casey’s Restaurant.
Andrews said an inspection was conducted at the business on May 5th as a result of several complaints indicating the restaurant had reopened its dining room in violation of Governor Brown’s Executive Order 20-07. Andrews said after confirming the restaurant was providing indoor seating, the enforcement officer consulted with the owner who indicated that she would not close the dining room.
The release said the enforcement officer hung a Red Warning Notice, indicating the business could not legally operate its dining room. The release said the business continued to operate and was still open on May 12th.
The employer was issued a willful violation on May 14th for $8,900 and a separate but related violation for failing to comply with the Red Warning Notice for $5,000. No appeal had been filed as of Friday.
