The 2020 Oregon State Fair, originally scheduled to run from August 28th through September 7th, has been cancelled due to State of Oregon restrictions on the size of mass gatherings.
A release from fair officials, said the announcement was made following Governor Kate Brown’s announcement that mass gatherings are prohibited through September as part of her phased reopening plan for the state.
The release said it had hoped to continue the 156-year tradition of being a classic American state fair but fully supports “the State of Oregon’s measured, scientific, and responsible approach to combating COVID-19”.
Fair management and staff are currently focused on developing a strategy to reopen their facilities when appropriate, and to welcome guests back for the 2021 Oregon State Fair, scheduled for August 27th through September 6th, according to the release.
