May 8, 2020 4:40 a.m.
Just over 10 percent of the ballots have been received for the May Primary Election in Douglas County as of Thursday afternoon.
Douglas County Clerk Dan Loomis told News Radio 1240 KQEN its about 1 percent ahead of the return rate for the 2018 election and is in line with participation rates for the 2016 and 2014 May elections.
Loomis said due to having more registered voters, elections staff have currently handled 37 percent more ballots than at the same point during the May 2016 election. Loomis said voters should remember to sign their ballot envelope before they turn it in.
Ballots are due back by Tuesday May 19th at 8:00 p.m. They can be mailed back in or taken to one of several drop boxes, located around the county. The locations are listed in a link posted at www.541radio.comhttp://www.co.douglas.or.us/clerk/drop_site_locations.asp
