A Roseburg man remains in critical condition following a hit and run accident on Wednesday night, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell said on Thursday, deputies and detectives identified the vehicle involved in the incident. It had earlier been described as a 2014-2016 Mazda 3.
Wednesday night just before 9:00 p.m. dispatchers received a call saying a man in a wheelchair had been struck by a car in the 5,000 block of Northeast Stephens, just north of the Roseburg city limits. Deputies found a 46-year old Roseburg man, whose name is being withheld, lying in the roadway and suffering from critical injuries. The man had been on a motorized scooter at the time he was struck. The vehicle that hit the man did not remain on the scene following the incident.
The victim was taken to Mercy Medical Center before being transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield, due to life threatening injuries.
Further updates are expected in the case.
