Republican Jo Rae Perkins has filed with the Federal Elections Commission and entered the 2020 race for the U.S. House of Representatives in Oregon’s 4th Congressional District.
A release sent to News Radio 1240 KQEN on Monday said Perkins seeks to “defeat and displace” Democrat Peter DeFazio.
The release said Perkins formally launched her 2020 bid for the GOP nomination during the 4th of July parade in Harrisburg. Perkins said “voters are fed up with overbearing laws, rules and regulations put in place by federal agencies and unelected bureaucrats”. She said the actions have created long term negative effects on natural resources industries such as logging, fishing, mining and farming. Perkins said the loss of thousands of “family-wage” jobs, after more than 30 years have not been replaced. Perkins said the 4th district has the highest percentage of people living in poverty of any of Oregon’s Congressional Districts.
Perkins release said her background includes work in financial investments, real estate, banking, education and small business. She currently serves as a commissioner on the Albany Human Relations Commission, is active with the Linn County Republican Party and lives in Albany, according to her release.
