COUNTY CHIP SEAL WORK CONTINUES

August 20, 2019 9:30 a.m.
Staff with the Douglas County Public Works Department is continuing work on its annual chip seal program on County roadways.
Through Friday work is happening in the Melrose area on Elgarose Road, Flourney Valley Road, and Coos Bay Wagon Road. Crews are working each weekday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. depending on weather and the availability of materials. Traffic in the work areas is controlled by flaggers.
The chip seal program is an application of a special protective wearing surface to an existing pavement. The surface treatment combines one or more layers of asphalt with one or more layer of fine aggregate.
Motorists in the work areas should expect 20-minute delays and should seek alternate routes whenever possible.
