4TH ANNUAL UMPQUA STRONG RUN/WALK CANCELLED

Organizers say a lack of volunteers has led to the decision to cancel this year’s Umpqua Strong 9K/5K Run and Walk.
The run, held in Roseburg’s Stewart Park every September, was created as a way to honor the victims of the tragic shooting at Umpqua Community College where 9 people were killed.
The event also served as a fundraiser to contribute scholarships and donations to organizations in the area.
This year, though, organizers were unable to plan the event as there just simply weren’t enough volunteers for the planning committee.
Current organizers say this year’s cancellation doesn’t mean the event is gone forever.
The Umpqua Strong board members are reportedly already in the planning stages for next year’s run/walk and they hope to have more volunteers come forward to make the event a reality.
