AIR POLLUTION ADVISORY EXTENDED THROUGH SUNDAY AT MIDNIGHT

August 3, 2019 8:00 a.m.
An Air Pollution Advisory for south central Douglas County has been extended through midnight Sunday by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
Officials with DEQ said the Milepost 97 Fire burning in the region combined with forecast conditions is causing air quality levels to fluctuate and they could be unhealthy at times. This includes Riddle, Canyonville, Azalea, Glendale and nearby areas.
The DEQ statement said pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes and runny nose and it can aggravate heart and lung diseases and other serious health problems. Residents should limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors when it is smoky. Those with a heart or lung condition should follow the medical advice of their provider.
