The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Pollution Advisory for south central Douglas County through Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m.
Information from DEQ said the Milepost 97 Fire burning in the region, combined with forecast conditions, will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and they could be unhealthy at times. This includes Riddle, Canyonville, Azalea, Glendale and surrounding areas.
The advisory said pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes and runny nose. They can aggravate heart and lung diseases and can aggravate other serious health problems as well. Those in the advisory area should limit outdoor activities and keep children indoors if it is smoky. Those with a heart or lung condition should follow medical advice.
