July 16, 2019 3:35 a.m.
The Mammoth 50th Anniversary Celebration is only a few days away at the Douglas County Museum.
The free-family-friendly event will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the museum grounds. Kids activities, games, face painting, food trucks and live music are all a part of the day. The music will include Dan Harmon and Cascade Country at 3:00 p.m., Ty Curtis at 5:00 p.m. and Resurrection, a Journey tribute band, at 7:00 p.m.
The Douglas County Museum was established by the Board of Commissioners in 1969 and opened its doors for the first time in conjunction with the opening day of that year’s Douglas County Fair. It has Oregon’s largest natural history collection on display with more than 7,500 items that tell both the ancient and contemporary stories of the Umpqua Valley.
