FIRE DEPARTMENT HELPS MAN GET OUT OF RIVER

Crews with the Roseburg Fire Department helped a man get out of the South Umpqua River on Monday morning.
Information from staff said crews were sent to the area known as The Point at about 10:30 a.m. That location is near the north end of Pine Street where the road becomes a multi-use path. The man, approximately 52-years of age, had fallen down an embankment and gone into the river. Personnel were able to gain access to the man and assisted him up the embankment.
He had minor injuries but refused treatment. Fire and ambulance personnel were on the scene for about 30 minutes. No other information is available.
