LANDLINE/VERIZON SERVICE RESTORED FOLLOWING FIRE

July 11, 2019 10:15 a.m.
Landline and Verizon Wireless service is back to customers in some parts of Myrtle Creek, Tri-City and Riddle, and in other areas south of Green.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department said DCSO was notified that the communications company had restored service just before 10:00 a.m. Thursday.
O’Dell said the outage was caused by a large fire that broke out on Highway 99 in Green late Wednesday night. The blaze caused damage to a fiber optic communications box, which resulted in the loss of service. O’Dell said the fire was found to be a stack of railroad ties.
Landline and Verizon Wireless service was out in the areas impacted for, about 10 hours.
