ASIAN STREET FOOD WINS GREAT UMPQUA FOOD TRUCK COMPETITION

An Asian street food truck won the Great Umpqua Food Truck competition on Thursday.
Thousands turned out for the third annual event at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Wok Star of Medford was the judges favorite and picked up $10,000. Portland’s Big Fat Weiners got second place and a $5,000 check. Local food truck Wrappin and Rollin won two awards – third place overall, and the best food truck in Douglas County. They received a total of $3,500.
Crowds starting coming out to the event in mid-afternoon to celebrate the 4th of July. Over 20 trucks sold food to those attending. Live music, kid’s entertainment, a car show, and more took place.
6 local music groups competed in the Battle of the Bands. Freaks Unleashed were judged as the crowd’s favorite.
The evening ended with the Roseburg Hometown Fourth of July Fireworks show. Douglas County Sheriff John Hanlin hit the symbolic plunger to begin the fireworks. The evening concluded at about 10:30 p.m.
The Great Umpqua Food Truck competition was produced by the Umpqua Economic Development Partnership with support from the Douglas County Commissioners, the City of Roseburg, Douglas County Fairgrounds, Douglas County Industrial Development Board and the Roseburg Hometown Fourth of July Fireworks Committee.
