A Myrtle Creek woman was jailed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for a reported strangulation incident on Monday night.

A DCSO report said just after 6:50 p.m. units responded to a disturbance in the 100 block of Heron Lane. Two witnesses were involved in a verbal disturbance and the 37-year-old allegedly got involved. One victim started recording the incident on his phone. The suspect did not like that and tried to take the phone. The victim attempted to hide the phone behind his back and the woman reportedly grabbed him by the throat for several seconds, making it hard for him to breathe.

The victim had redness around his neck that supported his statements. The suspect denied those claims and said she simply took the phone from his hand without an altercation. The report said an audio recording was later provided that proved otherwise. The woman could be heard screaming at a witness over the phone, with a second witness telling her to stop. At one point the victim could be heard crying after the altercation between himself and the suspect.

The woman was detained without bail.
