A driver died due to a medical event on Interstate 5 Sunday evening.

A report from Oregon State Police said just after 5:00 p.m. a southbound SUV was in the Yoncalla area when the driver experienced the medical event. The vehicle left the road and came to rest against the concrete center divider, causing minimal damage to the vehicle.

Crews from North Douglas Fire and EMS responded and attempted to resuscitate the driver. Their efforts were not successful. The man was pronounced deceased and the Douglas County Medical Examiner responded to the scene. The driver was a 65-year old from Medford.
