Reaction continues to come in to State Senator Dallas Heard’s announcement that he is resigning from the Oregon State Legislature, effective January 1st.
State Representative Christine Goodwin said, “Dallas Heard is a friend and colleague and I’ve appreciated the conversations we’ve had about serving in the Legislature”. Goodwin said, “He holds to his principled beliefs, despite the pressure to do otherwise. I understand the demands and stresses on family in doing the work of a Legislator and being away from home so much. It was a tough decision to retire his seat and I respect placing his young family as a priority in his life”.
Douglas County Republican Central Committee Vice Chair Michaela Hammerson said, “On behalf of the Douglas County Republican Central Executive Board, I would like to thank Dallas for his years of service to Oregon. We wish him success, health, and happiness in his future endeavors”. Hammerson said local Republicans are looking forward to the future and are excited to partner with whomever is selected as the new Senator.
Hammerson told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that since this appointment involves multiple counties, they are waiting to hear from the Oregon Republican Party to determine the date, time and location of the nomination meeting. She said updates would be provided at: https://douglascounty.gop/
