An Air Stagnation Advisory has been extended through Friday at 10:00 p.m.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said stagnant air is expected to continue, leading to deteriorating air quality.

The Advisory area includes central Douglas County, Josephine and Jackson counties and eastern Curry County.

An Urgent Weather Message said diminished air quality is likely to cause health issues for people with respiratory problems if precautions are not taken. In the wake of a front that will move through on Tuesday, mixing heights will only exceed the 1,000 feet threshold for stagnating air by a few hundred feet, and transport winds will remain weak. A slight improvement may occur as a result.

State air quality agencies highly recommend that no outdoor burning occur and that residential wood burning devices be limited as much as possible.
