Over 4.5 percent of ballots have been turned in for November General Election in Douglas County, as of late Tuesday.

County Clerk Daniel Loomis said the 4,019 ballots is just over 1 percent ahead of the participation rate for the same point in the 2018 General Election.

Loomis said voters may obtain a replacement ballot if their original one was destroyed, spoiled, lost or not received by the voter. Call or visit the Douglas County Elections Office. If a ballot has been replaced, the previous ballot’s identification code has been inactivated and will not be accepted. Loomis said ballots are never forwarded as that is against the law. He said the post office must send them back to the Douglas County Elections Office, as undeliverable mail.

Loomis said during the last gubernatorial/midterm election in November of 2018, the Douglas County final voter participation rate was just over 65 percent. In the same election, the final participation rate for all of Oregon was just under 70 percent.

Loomis said for many years, Oregon has consistently ranked among the top 10 states with the highest voter participation rate.

Ballots are due back by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 8th.
