One person died in a single vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.
A report from Oregon State Police said just after 1:30 p.m. troopers and emergency personnel responded to the wreck on Highway 38 about three miles from Drain. A preliminary investigation revealed that 29-year old Nathan Rowe of Yoncalla, lost control of his sedan while negotiating a curve. The vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment, overturned and caught fire.
Rowe sustained critical injuries and was transported to Peace Health Sacred Heart Medical at Riverbend in Springfield. A passenger, 28-year old Kelsey Willburn sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Traffic on Highway 38 was impacted for 4 hours while the OSP Reconstruction Unit investigated.
OSP was assisted by several other agencies.
