Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged theft and for a warrant, on Thursday.

An RPD report said at 9:50 a.m. 36-year old Rickey Gross was contacted by an officer in the 1900 block of Southeast Stephens Street. Gross had allegedly stolen a beer from a business in that area on Thursday, but gave the officer a false name when he was contacted, because he knew there was a warrant for his arrest.

Gross was charged with third-degree theft, giving false information to a peace officer and for the warrant. He was detained without bail.
