On Wednesday, Governor Kate Brown ordered all flags at Oregon public institutions to be flown at half-staff until midnight Thursday.

A release said this is in honor of U.S. Representative Jackie Walorski from Indiana, who died on Wednesday. Brown said, “Congresswoman Jackie Walorski dedicated her life to public service and to serving her constituents in Congress”. Brown said, “Dan and I are keeping her husband, Dean, and her family in our thoughts and in our hearts”.

The 58-year old Republican and two of her staff, died in a car accident in her home state. She had served in Congress since 2013.

The order is at the direction of the office of President of the United States.
