A Heat Advisory and an Excessive Heat Warning continue around southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said for most of central Douglas County the Heat Advisory is in effect until 9:00 p.m. Saturday night. Temperatures of 90 to 105 degrees are expected with lows remaining warmer, mainly in the 60s.

For the eastern Douglas County foothills, an Extreme Heat Warning has been extended through 11:00 p.m. Sunday. Hot high temperatures of between 95 and 110 degrees for lower elevations and ranging from 85 degrees to 95 degrees for mid-elevations up to 6,000 feet are forecast.

In the Rogue Valley and inland areas near the southern Oregon coast, dangerously hot high temperatures between 100 degrees and 115 degrees in the valleys, 90 to 100 degrees at mid-elevations, and 80-90 degrees in the mountains, are anticipated.

Forecasters said residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Those working or spending time outside should take extra precautions. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
