Sutherlin Police jailed a man Thursday in connection with an alleged burglary on January 30th.

An SPD report said just after 3:20 a.m. that morning, an unknown man was caught attempting to break into a detached garage in the 100 block of Terrace. The suspect fled in a vehicle before an officer arrived. The vehicle was later found unoccupied at the corner of East Third and Sherwood. A female with glasses was reportedly seen in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

Captain Kurt Sorenson said after talking to several people, 28-year old Joseph Trahan was developed as a suspect. He was contacted Thursday night and charged with second-degree counts of burglary and criminal trespass and for third-degree criminal mischief.

Bail was set at $52,500.
