A Roseburg man was jailed after an alleged burglary and damage to a local restaurant.

A Roseburg Police report said Monday shortly after 8:00 a.m. officers responded to Chi’s Restaurant in the 1000 block of Northeast Stephens for a report of someone hearing a window breaking out.

Officers arrived and found two windows broken from the inside out. A perimeter was set up around the business and an officer spotted a man inside the business discharging a fire extinguisher. Officers entered the restaurant to try and find the suspect when he discharged the extinguisher again.

The report said the man made several violent threats towards officers. A taser was deployed when the suspect did not obey an officer’s commands. The man was taken to CHI Mercy Medical Center to receive stitches for cuts he had on his fingers from breaking the windows.

It is estimated that there was over $5,000 in damage to the business.

The suspect was charged with first-degree criminal mischief and second-degree theft. Bail was set at $100,000.
