Monday night the Winston City Council took unanimous action and appointed Alesha Sullivan to the vacant Ward 2 council seat.

Sullivan was sworn in at that time and will fulfill the remainder of the term which expires at the end of this year.

Last Friday Mayor Scott Rutter and the council were looking forward to talking to 4 applicants. By meeting time, 2 had withdrawn their applications. Jeffery Johnson was the other candidate and was thanked by the mayor and councilors for applying. Councilor Dave Cunningham suggested Johnson would be a valuable member of the Traffic and Public Safety Committee or to other recommending bodies to the council.
