Sherm’s Thunderbird Market recently continued their annual tradition of donating a trailer load of food to Feeding Umpqua, the regional food bank for Douglas County, operated by the United Community Action Network.
Feeding Umpqua Director Sarah McGregor said this year the donation was over 30,200 pounds of food. McGregor said the tradition began in 2006. Since then, Sherm’s has donated over 400,000 pounds of food. McGregor said, “Sherm’s has been such an incredible partner in the fight against hunger. This valuable donation will support our continued work providing emergency food to our network of 16 emergency food pantries throughout Douglas County and the patron’s they serve”.
Steve Olsud, co-owner of Sherms along with his wife Wanda, accompanied the truck when the food was delivered to UCAN on January 14th.
