2 more people have died related to COVID-19 in Douglas County, 492 more people have received new positive test results, and 25 more are presumptive, as of Wednesday.

The Douglas County COVID-19 Weekly Update covered data reported from January 6th through Wednesday.

The new deaths include:

*A 68-year old man who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on January 4th and passed away on Sunday. He was fully vaccinated.

*A 76-year old woman who was diagnosed with COVID-19 on September 22nd and passed away on December 10th. She was fully vaccinated. The Douglas Public Health Network was notified by a long-term care facility or hospice on Tuesday.

The total number of deaths related to COVID-19 in the county is now at 319, with the number of cases at 15,651. Of those, 14,561 are people that have received positive test results and 596 are presumptive. 24 Douglas County COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 18 locally and 6 outside the area. In the past week, CHI Mercy Medical Center averaged 3 COVID-19 positive patients a day in the Intensive Care Unit and 5 COVID-19 positive patients in the Progressive Care Unit.  19 of the 24 hospitalized patients are not fully vaccinated.
