PEDESTRIAN HOSPITALIZED AFTER BEING HIT BY A VEHICLE

A pedestrian was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle near downtown Roseburg on Thursday night.

A Roseburg Police report said at 10:30 p.m. officers responded to an injury accident at the corner of Southeast Washington Street and Southeast Spruce Street. An investigation revealed that a victim was standing in the middle of the road near the intersection when he was struck by a sedan. The driver had just crossed the railroad tracks and could not stop in time.

The victim was taken to CHI Mercy Medical for injuries, before being transferred to a Portland hospital, due to the extent of his injuries.

The driver did not have a valid driver license or insurance and had a warrant for his arrest. He was taken into custody and transported to corrections.
