A Myrtle Creek man was jailed Wednesday, following an incident involving a fire.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just before 8:00 a.m. the suspect reported a fire in the 200 block of Briggs in Myrtle Creek.

When a deputy arrived, there was a burn pile on fire and the suspect was in the driveway. The 36-year old said he didn’t start the fire. As a search of the area began, the man was acting suspiciously behind the nearby church. When told to stop, the man allegedly took off running.

Once he was caught, he admitted to the fire. The suspect was charged with reckless burning and second-degree disorderly conduct, along with three warrants. Bail was set at $8,750.
