WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ABOVE 5,500 FEET

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect above 5,500 feet from 10:00 p.m. Thursday through 4:00 p.m. Friday for mountain areas in parts of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said 5 to 9 inches of snow are expected with winds gusting as high as 45 miles per hour over exposed terrain. The Advisory area includes the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains including Crater Lake.

Forecasters said travel could be difficult with longer travel times. Snowfall rates will approach 1 inch per hour at times on Friday.
