WINTER STORM WARNING UNTIL TUESDAY EVENING ABOVE 3,000 FEET

January 3, 2022 2:00 p.m.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 10 p.m. Tuesday in mountain areas of southern Oregon above 3,000 feet.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said heavy snow and blowing and drifting snow is ongoing. Total new snow accumulations of 8 to 15 inches with winds gusting from 45 to 65 miles per hour at times are expected. This is especially over the higher terrain and in areas open to winds from the south and southwest.

The Warning area includes the southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains, Crater Lake, Diamond Lake and nearby locations.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage. Travel is strongly discouraged, due to dangerous conditions.
