Two people were hospitalized after a residential fire in Sutherlin on Tuesday.
A report from Sutherlin Fire Department said just after 6:00 a.m. crews from their department along with Oakland and Fair Oaks fire districts were dispatched to the fire in the 500 block of Casa De Loma Street. Heavy smoke and fire were found on the backside of the structure.
The report said on scene crews knocked down the fire and completed a search, finding an adult female, who was removed from the home. A second alarm was called due to fire conditions, weather, and the possibility of further victims. An adult man was also located further into the home. Both patients were transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. Their conditions are not currently available. One dog perished in the fire and two were rescued.
The Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the blaze.
21 firefighters responded to the fire. Douglas County Fire District No. 2 and Kellogg Fire District responded on the second alarm. A number of other agencies assisted at the scene.
