An Advisory, a Warning and a Watch are now in effect for mountain areas around southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 4:00 a.m. Friday. A Winter Storm Warning is in place for between 6:00 a.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Saturday morning through Monday morning.

For the Advisory, additional snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are expected. For the Warning, heavy snow of 9 to 20 inches is forecast in the Cascades with winds gusting as high as 40 miles per hour over exposed areas. For the Watch Saturday into Monday, 1 to 3 feet of snow is possible with winds as high as 35 miles per hour.

These apply to the south-central Oregon Cascades including Crater Lake, Diamond Lake, and surrounding areas.

Forecasters said travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
