WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MOUNTAIN AREAS THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING

A Winter Weather Advisory for mountain areas around the region is in effect until 4:00 a.m. Friday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said snow and localized blowing snow is expected with between 5 and 15 inches possible. Wind gusts from the west at 30 to 50 miles per hour are forecast for exposed locations.

The Advisory area includes the south central and southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains, along with Crater Lake and Diamond Lake. It also applies to portions of Highways 138, 62 and 230 in the Diamond Lake area and elevations generally above 4,000 feet in the mountains.

Forecasters said additional accumulations of 1 to 4 inches are expected at the Siskiyou Summit on Interstate 5 and on Highway 66 between Ashland and Klamath Falls.
