Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man for tampering with evidence, and for warrants on Thursday.

A DCSO report said at about 4:45 p.m. a deputy stopped a vehicle on Interstate 5 near the Drain and Elkton exit. The driver said he didn’t have vehicle information, insurance or a valid license. The Yoncalla man also returned with two felony warrants for his arrest. In route to jail, the 42-year old allegedly attempted to discard a container with heroin residue in the back seat of the patrol vehicle.

The suspect’s vehicle was impounded and the man was held on $25,000 bail.
