Local teachers may apply for 2022 Fund for Teachers awards of up to $5,000.

A release from the Ford Family Foundation said they are bringing the national grant program to Douglas County for a 7th year. The program supports teacher-designed summer learning experiences that impact their practice, students and school communities. Up to $5,000 may be awarded to individuals and $10,000 for teams.

The release said up to $50,000 total will be awarded to teachers in Douglas County. Applications are open until January 20th, 2022. All local public-school teachers who have 3 or more years of experience in the classroom and are committed to teaching the following year are eligible to submit an individual or team proposal for summer educational experiences they deem relevant to their careers and classrooms.

The release said the FFT’s mission is to enrich the personal and professional growth of teachers by recognizing and supporting them as they identify and pursue opportunities that they believe will create the greatest impact on their practice. Since 2001, FFT has invested $23 million in more than 6,500 pre-K-12 teachers across the United States.
