Worsening winter driving conditions are forecast throughout the day in southern Oregon, especially on Interstate 5 and the Cascade mountain passes.

Gary Leaming of the Oregon Department of Transportation said snow began sticking on the Interstate 5 passes north of Grants Pass, as well as on U.S.199 at Hayes Hill, Monday morning. More snow is also expected on the freeway at the Siskiyou summit.

Leaming said drivers are urged to drive to the conditions, slow down, leave plenty of following distance, and factor extra time to get to destinations. Conditions may warrant chain screening and delays, which will take extra time as well.
