Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for central Douglas County and nearby mountain areas through 10:00 p.m. Monday night.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said heavy snow is expected with accumulations of 1 to 3 inches above 1,500 feet and 4 to 10 inches across the foothills around 3,500 feet. The Warning area also includes Josephine County and eastern Curry County along with Camas Mountain and the lower passes on Interstate 5.

For the south-central Oregon Cascades including Crater Lake and Diamond Lake, 8 to 12 inches is expected. This also applies to highways 62, 138, 230 and 232.

Forecasters said travel could be difficult to impossible at higher elevations and is discouraged. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility at times. A Winter Storm Warning means that severe winter weather is imminent and poses a threat to life and property.
