Agencies in the State of Oregon have paid more than $170 million in federal emergency rental assistance to just over 24,700 applicants, up from $157.5 million and just over 23,150 applicants last week.

A release from Oregon Housing and Community Services said it continues to be one of the nation’s leading programs and is ranked 6th in the nation, up from 8th last week, in the percentage of Emergency Rental Assistance funds paid out and obligated, as tracked by the National Low-Income Housing Coalition.

The release said currently 150 staff are processing applications with a focus on those outside the 60-/90- day safe harbor period. In the past week, close to 850 applications were processed, exceeding a target of 500. This is in addition to applications paid out by Community Action Agencies working from across the state to finish paying out ERA 1 funds.
