Congressmen Peter DeFazio issued a statement after the House passed the Build Back Better Act on Friday.
The 4th District Democrat said the legislation will “…bring down costs for families, create jobs, fight the climate crisis, and help everyday Americans get ahead”. DeFazio said “…it will help fight inflation and is fully paid for by making big corporations and the wealthy pay their fair share. It keeps President Biden’s pledge not to raise taxes on people making under $400,000”.
A release said as Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, DeFazio played a key role in the drafting and enactment of President Biden’s Build Back Better economic agenda. The release said he authored key provisions that “…combat the climate crisis and improve the resiliency of our transportation systems and infrastructure”.
DeFazio said, “Today is a good day for everyday Oregonians and Americans. For too long, the deck has been stacked against them. House Democrats have stood firm in our commitment to improve resiliency of our transportation systems and infrastructure”.
The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.
