A Roseburg man was jailed after allegedly eluding police on Tuesday.

A report from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said at 9:30 p.m. a deputy attempted to stop a motorcycle on Highway 99 South, in the Green area. The motorcycle began pulling into a business, hitting a curb and nearly crashing. It continued through the parking lot and the deputy was unsure if it was yielding. The motorcycle then took off at a high rate of speed on Highway 99. It continued east on Highway 42 toward the freeway. It then traveled north on Interstate 5, exiting onto Highway 99.

The report said some police units were ahead of the motorcycle as it took the off-ramp and the rider tried turning around. The deputy exited his vehicle and the rider was prevented from leaving. A taser was deployed and the suspect was taken into custody.

The rider was identified as 44-year old Jeremy Harless. He was charged with attempting to elude police, reckless driving, a misdemeanor count of driving while suspended and for three warrants. Harless was initially held on $77,500 bail.
