Searchers are looking for a missing man near Myrtle Point.

Captain Gabe Fabrizio of the Coos County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday 77-year old Jessie Valle went mushroom picking off of the Weaver Ridge Road area with some friends. Fabrizio said Valle reportedly walked off on his own to check an area for mushrooms, but did not return. His friends searched for Valle for hours before contacting authorities for assistance.

Search and Rescue crews from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office are actively searching for the man. Fabrizio said he was last seen wearing a black ball cap, a black coat, and blue jeans. Due to the man’s age and the current weather conditions, Fabrizio said authorities are very concerned for Valle’s wellbeing.
